Two burglary suspects, homeowner wounded in northwest Harris County gunfight

A shootout in a northwest Harris County neighborhood left one burglary suspect dead late Friday morning.

The homeowner also wounded a second suspect who tried to run away before collapsing a couple of blocks from the scene.

Pablo Berruz said the suspects knocked on his door while he was away this morning. His son answered the door.

“They asked my son if we wanted lawn-mowing service. My son said ‘No,'” Berruz said. “But then I told my son he should know better than to open the door to anybody.”

That’s when the suspects moved on to another house and found themselves in the middle of a gunfight that ended one life and forever changed two others.
