Handgun Proficiency

This course covers handgun safety, handling, and marksmanship.

This course is particularly useful for:

  1. Complete novices without any bad habits who need a solid foundation to work on
  2. Anyone who has taught themselves to shoot handguns, and is ready to learn how it should be done 😉
  3. Anyone who would like to improve their handgun skills in preparation for taking a CWP course or more advanced training
  4. Anyone who is around handguns and needs to know how to use them in case they had to

You will need to bring the following to this course:

  • One or more handguns. Pistols AND revolvers are welcome.
  • 200 rounds of ammunition for your handgun(s). Bring more if you want to shoot more. Bring dummy rounds or snap caps, if you have them.
  • Eye and ear protection.
  • A baseball type cap or a hat with a wide rim to keep the sun and spent cases out of your face.
  • Lunch, water, and snacks. We will have lunch at the range.
  • A belt with a strong-side holster for your handgun. The belt must go through the belt loops of your pants.
  • Chair, sun block, bug spray, and rain gear (just in case).

Loaner equipment can be made available. Contact the instructor for details. The range is outdoors. Dress for the weather. It may be cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon. Layered clothing is strongly suggested.

The course fee is $175 per person. On sale for only $150 until April 1!  Course graduates will receive a discount on their next course.

The next class is on Saturday, May 10. Contact Alex to request an application form. Additional group and private classes can be scheduled on request.

I took the Handgun Proficiency course today and came out with much more knowledge and now feel that I can protect myself after going through the hands on training at the shooting range. I had no experience with guns and was generally wary of even picking one up. I now am able to handle one safely as well as load and shoot without feeling nervous. Alex was very patient with me and made me feel at ease. He answered all my questions and took all the time I needed to feel comfortable handling a firearm.
