Thanksgiving IDPA Match at MCRC
The IDPA match at the Mid Carolina Rifle Club this Thanksgiving weekend was excellent. Over $500 was donated to support Toys for Tots.
Two stages featured a challenging array of moving targets. In the first, two “robbers” turn to face the shooter when the shooter presses the “alarm button” of his “store counter.” In the second, three threats pop up when the shooter gets close to an open window.
The videos are below.
Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving! Despite the current situation, everyone in South Carolina still has a lot to be thankful for. For example, South Carolinian’s right to keep and bear arms is constitutionally protected on both the federal and the state level. From the declaration of rights in the South Carolina constitution:
SECTION 20. Right to keep and bear arms; armies; military power subordinate to civil authority; how soldiers quartered.
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. As, in times of peace, armies are dangerous to liberty, they shall not be maintained without the consent of the General Assembly. The military power of the State shall always be held in subordination to the civil authority and be governed by it. No soldier shall in time of peace be quartered in any house without the consent of the owner nor in time of war but in the manner prescribed by law. (1970 (56) 2684; 1971 (57) 315.)
Toys for Tots IPSC match at MCRC
On Sunday, December 12 the annual Toys for Tots IPSC Match will be held at the Mid Carolina Rifle Club. All proceeds from the match benefit the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program. Last year, we had 117 shooters at the match.
Individuals who are not able to shoot the match or just want to watch, can donate toys, cash or checks to Toys for Tots. They will be listed as Virtual Competitors and their contributions are tax deductible as a charitable donation for federal income tax purposes.

Tax-Free Weekend
From the NRA-ILA:
South Carolina: “Second Amendment Weekend” to be Held
November 27 and 28!
South Carolinians will celebrate more than just Thanksgiving next week. The Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving this year, November 27 and 28, will be the second annual “tax holiday” on firearm purchases in the Palmetto State . Dubbed the “Second Amendment Weekend,” this concept was the brainchild of State Representative Mike Pitts (R-14).
Last year’s inaugural “tax holiday” saw a tremendous surge in firearm purchases, and this year could be just as successful. The original “tax holiday” law was passed as part of a larger bill, but when that law was struck down by the state Supreme Court, this year’s “Second Amendment Weekend” was restored within the state budget. This restoration was only for this year, so next year, NRA will work with Representative Pitts to make the “Second Amendment Weekend” a permanent annual event.
