Holster Purse
Purse carry is a valid option for women with a CWP. The purse shown below is from Hafner World Wide. I bought it as a training aid at a recent gun show. Surprisingly, it was made in the US and only cost $125 plus tax. This was less than comparable purses from Galco. It has a hidden gun compartment in the side of the purse. If the user feels threatened, she can unzip the compartment and have her gun ready to use without even needing to draw it.
And just in case you were wondering… No, I’m not going to model it for this site. I had enough fun showing it off at the gun show 😉
Basic Pistol Course Scheduled for September 20
The goal of this course is to teach the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a handgun safely. This course is a hybrid of the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course and the material specified by SLED to satisfy the requirements to receive a Concealed Weapon Permit (CWP) in South Carolina. The course material is divided into five sections which will take around 10 hours to present. Class starts promptly at 8:00 am and lasts until approximately 6 pm.

July IDPA Match at MCRC
I just uploaded a video from the July IDPA match at Mid-Carolina Rifle Club. This is stage 2, which features two pepper poppers (steel targets that have to fall over), 8 threat targets and 2 non-threat targets. All threat targets need to be engaged with two rounds each.
MacDaniel II
At the 2008 SC IDPA State Match, several competitors were very complimentary of the holsters made by Andrews Custom Leather. In particular of this model: the MacDaniel II. It is an inside the waistband holster with several options: bodyshield, thumb break and several sizes of belt loop. It turns out that another friend of mine has one of these holsters, and it is indeed very nice. The snaps in the belt loops are specially modified to make sure they don’t come undone during the draw. Orders take 4-6 weeks to arrive, but the wait is worth it.
Tuckable holster for jeans
Oleg has some great photos of a tuckable inside the waistband holster designed for use with jeans.
Surplus SIG P225 pistols
AIM has SIG P225 police trade-ins from Europe. At $270 the price seems right.
It’s a small world
I know a young gentleman who attends this church. I taught him how to shoot. He does not, currently, have a TN carry permit. I have referred him to the excellent folks at Coal Creek Armory.
What IS the Canadian word for “Let’s Roll”?
“A man on a Greyhound bus travelling across the Canadian Prairies has killed and decapitated a fellow passenger.
Thank goodness nobody had brought a handgun along for personal defense! A knife-wielding psychopath could have gotten seriously injured on the job!
