Combat Pistol Marksmanhship
February 11: Combat Pistol Marksmanship in Columbia, SC
In this class you will learn how to fire an accurate shot with your carry handgun, in situations replicating what may be necessary to prevail in a proactive street gunfight. This course is perfect for the novice or new CCW licensee (although no licenses are necessary to attend).
Coming this February: South Carolina Long Gun Weekend II
After the success of the first South CarolinaLong Gun Weekend (Dynamics of the Shotgun and Rifle Gunfighting), SI Staff Instructor Chris Upchurch and I have decided to organize another one early next year.
On Friday, February 3, I will teach Dynamics of the Shotgun
On Saturday and Sunday February 4 and 5, Chris Upchurch will teach Combat Rifle Marksmanship and Advanced Combat Rifle Marksmanship
Gabe has done a good job cramming these 1-day HITS classes with useful information on running your long guns. We take care of the shotgun specific material on Friday, then dive into the study of rifle shooting on Saturday and deepen that knowledge on Sunday. To make taking these classes even more enticing, we’ve bundled them into a value class for $500 (compared to $600 regular price). So come see us and learn the best ways to run your long guns in one long weekend this February inColumbia,SC!
What is the Suarez International System?
Dr. John Meade, SI Director of Tactical Medicine, just posted this on Warriortalk. I thought it was worth sharing here.
In another thread, an SI alumnus said this:
The S.I. system with a instructor like XXX gives anyone who is willing to take their courses the necessary foundation to protect your loved ones and keep you in the fight.
I replaced the instructor’s name, not because he doesn’t deserve praise (trust me, he does!), but because that is the beauty of the “SI System”—you can replace his name with another, and get the same result!
Granted, every person has certain strengths and weaknesses. That is normal and reality. However, the SI class curricula are designed in a very specific manner, so that the instructors know exactly what sorts of skills need to be taught, and in a stepwise fashion. We teach you skills and mindset, so that you can understand not only what to do, but WHY!
The SI program is also very integrated. The classes are essentially interlocked. If you take CRG from another SI instructor, and then take my TMCO class, you will see that I teach the gun stuff just like you learned in CRG, and then expand and extend certain skills. If you then go take a rifle class, you will see the same sorts of movements, mental concepts and skills extended into the rifle world. This is not a coincidence—It is all planned!
Recently, we have added in the SI Authorized Training Groups. In the TG’s, you get together with a group of other SI alumni, and work for several hours with an SI instructor to fine-tune your skills in some specific areas. You take what you learned in class, and are able to have the instructor coach you to perfection. How cool is that?!
So that is why the student speaks of the “SI System”. We have an entire set of classes, across the entire spectrum of the fight, that all work together to help make you a complete warrior. Not too shabby, huh?
New CWP Course Scheduled
By popular demand, I have scheduled another 1-day CWP course. This course will be on December 4. Students are already signing up, so request your application forms soon.
Lessons from the Force-on-Force Gunfighting Course in Columbia, SC
This October, Suarez International Tier 1 Staff Instructor Randy Harris traveled from Tennessee to South Carolina to teach a Force-on-Force Gunfighting class. This course is a good demonstration of what makes the whole Suarez International handgun curriculum so advanced: it is based on the lessons from Force on Force training, and without learning those lessons your preparation to fight real gunfights is incomplete. Extrapolating from square range training to gunfight tactics, like so many other organizations do, is putting the cart before the horse.
The purpose of this post is to share some of the lessons learned from this FoF training course. Some of these lessons have to be experienced to be really believed, so find a FoF course near you and come experience them for yourselves.

Force on Force Gunfighting: October 15-16
During the Vietnam War, the Air Force found that the first ten combat missions a pilot flew were by far the most dangerous. A pilot who survived the first ten missions was likely to survive his entire tour. In response, the Air Force created Red Flag, a program where aircrew could fly those first ten missions in a realistically simulated training environment. Would you rather your first gunfight was against a thug armed with a live weapon, or a fellow student armed with an airsoft gun?
On October 15-16, Suarez International Tier 1 Staff Instructor Randy Harris will be teaching Force on Force Gunfighting in Columbia, SC. In Force on Force Gunfighting we can give you those first ten gunfights, and more, in a realistically simulated training environment. In this class we take things further than we can in even our most advanced live fire pistol classes. The most advanced footwork, all the lines of movement, tactics for use against gun and knife wielding adversaries. We can show you not only what works, but why and how it works against a living, breathing adversary. What’s more, you can take the role of that adversary and see just how effective these techniques are. There’s nothing better for your mindset in a real fight than the confidence that comes from experience.
