Don’t Rob the Pizzeria Either
In Akron Ohio, a man wearing an orange ski mask and carrying a sawed off shotgun stormed into a home owned pizza shop demanding money. John Hayes, the owner, complied, handing over a stack of ten dollar bills. The robber wanted more and Mr. Hayes found himself looking down the barrel of a deadly weapon. Then, the criminal looked away from the shop owner for a fraction of a second. The shop owner drew his concealed handgun and saved his life by shooting his attacker in the chest.
Note that the unlike the big chain pizzerias, Mr. Hayes allows his delivery driver to also carry an effective self-defense tool:
“People don’t care. They take $100 and don’t give a s***. They don’t want to be identified and so they kill you.” he says. “I’m not going to be killed for $100.”
Self-defense works. Carry.

Competition Update
Alex, Training for Life’s Lead Instructor, recently won the Blockhead competition at Shooter’s Choice. The purpose of the Blockhead competition is to make the smallest group possible at 7 yards using a fully loaded handgun. Alex used a Smith & Wesson Model 18-4 .22 revolver to shoot a 6-shot group measuring only 0.6”, the smallest since the Blockhead competition began.
Also, two videos from the Greenville Gun Club‘s March IDPA match have been added:

Home Invasion Averted
On February 5, 2009 four criminals attempted a home invasion in broad daylight in Tucson, AZ. Unfortunately for them, the home owner they selected as their target apparently takes his safety seriously, and not only had security cameras around his house, but also had rapid access to a loaded handgun. Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, he was able to fight off his attackers. The whole thing was captured on his security cameras and is now available for your education.
“The victim was able to get back inside his house, close his door, semi barricade it, reach for [a] weapon that was easily accessible,” says Pima County Sheriff’s Deputy Earl Gieron. The homeowner shot at the suspects. He even put a bullet through the windshield of the suspects car, which is also caught on camera. The four men retreated and took off. All of them remain on the run.
Informing the Misinformed
Tam takes some of Handgun Control, Inc’s tired old talking points, and makes fun of them as only she can:
Anyhow, this is a tired old tactic whereby “defensive handgun use” is made to equal “justifiable homicide”. Never mind that in the vast, vast majority of DGU’s, no shot is even fired, with the perpetrator aborting the crime upon realizing his intended victim is armed. Even when shots are fired, the perpetrator is hit somewhere between half and three quarters of the time (depending on which set of statistics you buy into), and then only a small minority are fatal. Mikey only counts them if they result in a toe tag on the goblin; the rest didn’t happen.
